Into the Woods

Posted by Barbara (Oakland, United States) on 4 November 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Here is yet another image from my 4 day trip to the Hope Valley area two weeks ago. In this forest, the aspens have dropped their leaves to reveal the chaos of the forest in its naked state. So often, it is challenging to compose a good image - you know, a focal point, classic compositions, etc. - out of the chaotic natural world. In this instance, I made a deliberate choice to let all of the chaos just come through - speak for itself. I hope you like it.

It does speak, Barbara. In fact its coming through loud and clear. I don't know where to rest my eye and it just keeps roving around the image. So, if it was chaos you were after, I guess it's mission accomplished!

I think this is a successful image. I actually like some of your other shots that are far less chaotic more, but I know how hard it is to make an image like this. I have tried similar images many times and I generally fail miserably. So well done.

I like how you have included tye warmth of the remaining few leaves in an otherwise quite cool image
