Minus Tide and Sunset, Salmon Creek BeachPosted by Barbara (Oakland, United States) on 7 November 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Yesterday, I drove up to Bodega Bay to meet Matt, a photographer I met online who lives there. He promised to take me to some good beaches for sunset. I was not too hopeful that we would get a sunset...after several days of glorious coastal sunsets this week, the sky was filled yesterday with high clouds that obscured any hint of the sun. But, since it has been my experience that even when the conditions do not look best, something will present itself, I went ahead with our plans. We drove up the coast, on the lookout for a good spot, somewhere where there might be something - anything - promising. Soon enough, a hole opened up in the cloud cover and the sun peeked through. Matt quickly parked on the wide shoulder of the highway and we scrambled down a steep embankment to the sand at Salmon Creek Beach, just north of Bodega Bay. Yesterday was a minus tide day, which made the beach quite wonderful, sun or not. It seemed like the water disappeared at the rate of about a foot every five minutes, exposing wet sand which reflected the clouds beautifully. This was one of the last shots of the day. I'll post a couple of others in future blogs. To view more of my images, visit my portfolio at Barbara Lee Photography.

Stu from Kyoto, JapanThis is gorgeous, Barbara! The muted tones work well to make a subtle image. 8 Nov 2009 3:20am |
