First Light: Cerro Torre

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 18 December 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Cerro Torre is the second Patagonian peak that the climbers lust for. After spending two days camped at the foot of Mt. Fitz Roy, we trekked on to Cerro Torre. A thirty minute scramble up a steep slope at dawn rewarded us with this vista. Perched at the edge of the moraine in the morning cold, we were greeted by this sight. Another cloudless day and another most amazing mountain.
