The Valley of El Chalten

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 19 December 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

On my trek in Patagonia - this was the view back into the Valley of El Chalten on our first day's climb up to the foot of Mt. Fitz Roy. It was early spring - you can see that the snow is melting away from the mountains. The bush in the foreground is known as the guanaco bush, so called because when seen from a distance, it resembled the guanaco, an animal related to the llama. I will post photos of the guanaco later this week.

this is just beautiful! love the red in the foreground - very eye catching - before the view opens up towards the majestic mountains in the background... really good composition and DOF to keep everything sharp!
