Red Tulip

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 2 April 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

These photos are beginning to reflect my mood. I made this image today at the tail end of a wonderful late afternoon walk through the redwoods near my home. After hiking for more than an hour deep in the redwood forest, I came out on Skyline Blvd for the last quarter mile to home. And, here is what I found! A neighbor has planted some lovely spring flowering bulbs, including this tulip. I crouched down low to catch the 6:30 setting sun behind it. When I brought it into photoshop, I darkened down the already dark background and added a border and mat.

I think that the depth of this color and the light reflects my improved mood of the day - for I am feeling the richness of my life here in the hills of Oakland - what a blessed place to be!
