Golden Shores

Ok, I have no new photos to post today, so I dug back into my archives and pulled up this one. This image was made three years ago on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, California, in an area known as Sand Harbor. I was trying to capture the golden light at day's end. I waited over two hours for this scene to unfold. Just walking along the shoreline, looking for the right arrangement of rocks, was a meditation in itself. I find that when I get in the right zone, as I did on this day, the whole process of making images is meditative for me. I can get really lost and hours go by.

I had this one printed large on a canvas and hung it in our bathroom. It works well in that space. This summer, I am going to concentrate more on printing up the images I make. I now have an idea - from my Fine Art Digital Printing workshop - about how to make a boxed portfolio. I am itching to start!

This is truly beautiful and I can see that your patience was worth it. I haven't camped out to do anything like this yet though I did stalk a pond for a long while to get the shimmer of stars made by the sunlight on the water. Definitely.. worth a framing here!

the light and colours are really beautiful here! as is the composition - there is good balance to this scene and that balance combined with what you described as meditation enhance this shot even further - lovely work!

Barbara; this is a lovely image. Printing is something I have yet to learn; good luck maybe I'll give you some business! I have a few images I would like to print on canvas.

@steve loos: Steve, I had it printed at Bay Photo in Santa Cruz. I have not yet mastered the art of printing on canvas!
