Rocks, Sand and Waves at Garrapata

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 31 May 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Zooming in down to the action at the end of the sea, we see a variety of wonderful colors on the rocks below. A long exposure blurred the tide. When I stand in a spot like this, faced with the obvious photos of the ocean and the rocks and the sunset, I often cast my eye about looking for something more unusual, something that maybe has not been done before. This is what I saw on this particular night.

Gorgeous! I love all the colors in the rocks, and you captured just the right amount of movement in the water! I love Garrapata, and no matter how often I go there I can ALWAYS find something new! Next time you are in the area give me a holler!

superb composition and i like how you focused on a small area - this brings out great detail and your shutter speed is once again spot on to capture the movement of the water and to create dreamy and surreal effect!

Barbara, I shot a similar scene (http://juliebrown.aminus3.com/portfolio/56.html) when I was at Garrapata for my Big Sur photo workshop. You and I were attracted to the same elements. I shot my image at 200mm, very similar to your 225mm!
