On Wednesdays, I am hiking with a group of women on some of our East Bay Regional Park Trails. Today, we went to Coyote Hills, south of Oakland about 30 minutes, near the Dumbarton Bridge. I always carry my camera, even though it is nearly impossible to take photos when on a group hike like this. But on our way back to the cars, we passed these yarrow blooms, and I just had to stop and squeeze off a couple of quick shots. Some LR presets really helped to develop the mood of this scene today.

Very nice light on these flowers. Of course you are probably seeing everything with your photographer's eye, yet you can't stop because they will probably leave you behind! Its difficult to just pass these things by, isn't it?

@Julie Brown: Actually, they all stopped, all 6 of them, and just waited. It made me nervous. I told them I would catch up, but no, they wanted to wait. Oh, well. It is fun getting out with friends for exercise like this, but one has to make alone time for slow strolls to take photos, too!

Very nice selective focus. Marvelous yellow and green.

I really like this. It is one of those plants that seems hard to photograph in any interesting way, and yet you nailed it. It looks like you are deep in some mysterious yarrow forest. ;-)

That would make me nervous too! It is best to be alone when you are making images, or to be in a workshop where everyone is doing the same thing.
