Number One

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 14 July 2010 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

I have decided to take on a new project. Instead of just photographing the graffiti of others, I will be working to isolate interesting, random bits of paint to create my own abstract work of art. Just as we walk through a forest, along a beach, through a meadow, looking for images to bring into our frame, I will be walking along the streets and alleyways of the cities near me to isolate images in the frame of my camera, making abstract art. I hope you will like this work, which will be showing up here and there throughout my daily posts for the rest of this summer. Here is Number One.

NIKON D90 1/40 second F/5.6 ISO 200 142 mm (35mm equiv.)

This is a wonderful bit of isolation! I love the way you can take a big thing and just choose part of it- Totally changes the meaning and feeling! Can't wait to see what else you come up with, I am sure it will be great!

Nice idea, nice result! This is what photographers do all the time - isolate random bits of life...
