Walking through the Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, South Carolina one afternoon this week, I found myself looking down, seeking patterns on the forest floor. The cycle of life - returning from the earth which spawned us. It applies to all living things, and in the autumn, it gives us some lovely patterns and textures.

@k@: Sure - I was certainly on a tripod. It is backbreaking work to stand over your tripod with the camera pointed straight down, but really worth the effort, and you cannot get the slow shutter speed without it. The sky was overcast, which helped bring out the luminosity of the wet leaves. I went to iso 500 - did not want to push it much further because of noise issues. I should also say that I process most of my work using the Nik plug in Viveza 2, which yields great results - you can put a pointer at selected areas in an image and work on things like brightness, structure, saturation, etc. Having said that, this image is really not too far from the original - mostly added contrast.
