The color in Zion Canyon this fall is amazing! The walls of the canyon are covered with a riot of colors - yellow, orange, red, green. I walked along the shore of the Virgin River at the Big Bend area of the canyon, looking for a composition that worked. It would be so easy to just point the camera at all the color and click away. (Well, I did do that!)....but...more challenging is finding a compsition that works, something with interest to keep your eye moving around the frame. I found it in this group of maples - you can see the interesting sinewy shapes of the trunks viewed in relief against the green. I wish that these particular trees had color, but there will be more color in posts to come. I promise! I really apprecaite the Navajo sandstone of the canyon walls behind the green here.
