Continuing a nautical theme.....I was in the City today with a friend. We went to see a wonderful photo exhibit at Pier 24 on the Embarcadero. Look at the bonus we got! The herring are making their annual run in the San Francisco Bay, where they come every January to lay their eggs. Fishermen put these herring boats on big 18 wheelers and truck them down here from Washington and Oregon so that they can set their gill nets and reel them in. The prize of the catch is their roe, which is sold to Japan. Apparently, the rest of the fish caught in our bay is considered "junk". Interesting. I love getting out with my camera on everyday jaunts. You never know what you will run across and then learn about.
