Yes, we have had a really cold week in Northern California. Yesterday, I hiked in Briones Regional Park, east of Oakland. At the top of our hill climb - about 1400 feet, we had a glorious 360 view all around the bay area, including Mt. Diablo in Contra Costa County, which was covered with snow. We usually get snow on Mt. Diablo once or twice a year. It a spectacular sight! I loved the patterns of sunlight on the green hills formed by the passing clouds. If you live near Orinda, get over to Briones. It is a fabulous park which is relatively undiscovered. Just be prepared to dodge the cow patties - it is rangeland for 3 ranchers who have gotten permits from the park district to graze their cattle here.
