Mosiac Canyon

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 8 May 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I have finally gotten back to the images I brought back from Death Valley. This is Mosiac Canyon, near Stovepipe Wells and the dunes. It is a great place to visit in the later morning or afternoon after you have gotten your dawn shots and before heading out for the sunset. The light just bounces around on these marbleized walls. It is a great hike - just running our hands along the smooth marble, smoothed out by eons of flooding.

Beautiful. I am amazed when I think about a small trickle of water cutting out the chasm over the centuries, and then I remember the flash flood that probably send a torrent through this canyon.
