California Poppies

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 2 June 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Another photo from the Lone Pine nursery. In addition to all of their greenhouses, they have a wonderful garden just for strolling and enjoyment. More iPhone fun!

I like the perspective here. The poppies in the foreground look huge, and they get smaller as you back into the frame. Hey, did you know there is a holder you can get for the iphone that has a tripod mount? There is also an app to control shutter speed. I think I saw it in the latest issue of Outdoor Photographer.

I like that little cool effect that apparantly your iPhone happ has that pputs the little dark spots on the poppies! That is really neat! Also this has a pretty nifty shift-tilt kinda look to it....Beautiful image once again, nice!!

Love the way the flowers trail off into the distance. It's not just a sense of depth, but also a feeling as if there were a story that is going somewhere. Something happening!!!

Beautiful!! Hard to believe the iPhone does such a great job....However, I have believed for a while, that it is not the camera that makes great images, it's the photographer!

@Tracy: Thanks so much Tracy! There wsa a lot of help from Nik on this image, too. I used Color Efex Pro to darken down the greenery to a great effect. Hats off to those genius programmers in Germany who designed this wonderful tool for us!
