Mt. Blanc as seen from Chamonix

Posted by
Barbara Lee (Oakland, United States) on 29 October 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This is a view of Mt. Blanc as seen from my hotel balcony in Chamonix one evening. This is another 3 exposure HDR treatment in Photomatix Pro 4. I want to give credit to Maria Draper on Aminus - I have freely borrowed her framing template. Hey, they say the imitation is the most sincere form of flattery! Anyway, I have been searching for a way to frame my images on the web - this is a first experiment. I will look for something that is more uniquely mine, but I want to thank Maria for this inspiration.

This image is perfection...I can't believe it is HDR (wonderful restraint you've used...the finish is very refined.)
I love the frame too, but suggest it might be a warmer shade of white that doesn't overwhelm the stunning mountain shot. What do you think? :-)

The framing looks great! The image itself is perfectly beautiful and shows the majesty as well as volume and weightiness of this mountain. Love it in BW and also your previous image of the glacier. I am looking forward to more!

Well, Barbara...I have to say, that the frame looked really familiar to me when I clicked on your image :)
Thanks much for the credit...I really appreciate it, although not sure you needed to do that...
As for the main topic here, Mt Blanc.....well..that's on my list to visit! A really beautiful capture here and looks good in black and white, even that I'm such a color person...

the tonal range here is just sensational - perfect example of what good use of HDR software can do!

Barbara sorry I missed this one - this is magnificent! And I love the framing too...I thought I kinda recognized it...Do you know if it is Mac friendly? I guess I need to look for this kind of thing...Beautiful piece here, for sure!

Wow! Talk about a room with a view! William Albert Allard once said he would never stay somewhere that he could not make a photo out of the window.... It looks like you have the same sentiment.
