I am in Mariposa, one of the gateway communites to Yosemite. Today I drove along Highway 140 through the Merced River Canyon looking for wildflowers. Here is what I found. Dozens and dozens of firey redbud bushes in full bloom. The recent downpourrs of the past week have given these plants a real kickstart. I have never seen such a profusion of them in bloom all at once. Don't you think they should be named "Magenda Buds" or "Purple Buds"? I am looking forward to going into Yosemite Valley tomorrow to see what waits for me.
